Rite Aid filed plans to close 154 stores on Monday as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Rite Aid is the smallest of the three major drugstore chains, well behind CVS and Walgreens. Rite Aid was expected to close stores as part of its bankruptcy. Rite Aid told Insider that it considers a variety of factors when deciding to close a store, "including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability, and store performance." "We will also strive to transfer associates to other Rite Aid locations where possible," the company said.

A historic building in Davenport, Iowa collapsed Sunday. Tenants predicted the building would collapse as far back as last year, according to local reports. "The tenants told us the building was going to collapse," Jennifer Smith, owner of Fourth Street Nutrition — a shop located on the bottom floor of the complex — told The Des Moines Register. She's not alone: other residents told the Register there were many structural problems in the building that the landlord never properly addressed. In that case, too, residents and local officials had noticed structural issues with the building before it collapsed.

But Cuban American actor Maurice Compte, who plays Captain Mike Duarte on the 24th season of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” says the policemen and gang members he grew up with make that line more blurry in real life. The actor told NBC News that he knew both policemen and gang members — some of whom he said were in the Latin Kings. One person is dead and four are missing after fast-moving waters from heavy rain hit a homeless encampment in Southern California on Tuesday, officials said. Officials believe all of the individuals were living in a homeless encampment near an area that feeds into a basin, Bell said. Bell said officials pieced together the higher number of overall victims based on information provided by witnesses. Officials have not released the identities of the missing victims and deceased person, Bell said. Recovery efforts are ongoing for the four missing victims, Bell said.
